Before you travel with us

Terms and conditions

Plain terms for using this site and for working with Voyager Outdoors. They will be updated as trips and training go on sale — the date above shows the version in force.

Last updated: October 13, 2026

  1. 01Who we are and what these terms cover

Voyager Outdoors is a guided overland trip and off-road driver training company owned by Mike Reed, based at 913 Eves Ct, Fruita, Colorado 81521. These terms govern your use of voyager-outdoors.com and any inquiry you send us by phone, email or form.

By using this site you accept these terms. If you don't accept them, please don't use the site. We may update these terms; the version published here is the one in force, and the "Last updated" date above shows when it was last changed.

  2. 02This site is for inquiries, not bookings (for now)

No trips or training courses are currently for sale on this site. There is no shopping cart, no checkout and no payment collection. Sending an inquiry, or joining our email list, does not reserve a place, confirm a date, or create a contract.

When 2027 dates and prices are released, booking will happen through a separate written confirmation and agreement. That document, not this page, will set out the price, deposit, balance, itinerary, cancellation and refund terms for your trip or course.

  3. 03Inquiries, quotes and availability

We answer inquiries in the order we receive them and reply with the information we have at the time. Routes, dates, prices, group sizes, guides and included services can change — terrain, permits, weather and supplier availability all move around in the backcountry.

Nothing we tell you in an email or on a call is a binding offer until we issue a written booking confirmation that you accept and, where required, pay a deposit against.

  4. 04Driver, vehicle and fitness requirements

Anyone who drives on a Voyager trip or course must hold a valid driver's license for their country of residence, carry current third-party vehicle liability insurance, and drive a vehicle in sound mechanical condition with the recovery gear listed on the trip or course page.

Off-road travel is physically demanding. Participants must be able to sit in a vehicle for long periods on rough terrain, walk on uneven ground, and take part in recovery work. Tell us in your inquiry about any medical condition, injury or accessibility need so we can tell you honestly whether a trip suits you.

Minors may take part when an accompanying adult is responsible for them, and a parent or guardian must sign the waiver for anyone under 18.

  5. 05Assumption of risk

Overland travel and off-road driving carry real, unavoidable risks: rollovers, collisions, stuck and disabled vehicles, flying rock, wildfire, flash flood, lightning, extreme heat and cold, altitude, remote terrain hours from advanced medical care, and wildlife. Training involves practical recovery and winching.

You take part voluntarily and accept those risks. Before any trip or course, you will be asked to sign a separate participation agreement and liability waiver. That signed document governs your participation; these website terms do not replace it and do not waive any right or release any claim.

  6. 06Safety, conduct and the guide's authority

Your guide sets the route, the pace, the convoy order and the stop points, and can change any of them for safety, weather, permit conditions or group ability. Follow instructions, stay with the convoy, wear your seatbelt, and don't drive after drinking.

We can ask a participant to leave a trip or course, without refund, for behaviour that endangers the group, damages property, or makes the experience unworkable for others — including driving outside the guide's direction or refusing a safety instruction.

Leave no trace applies: stay on permitted routes, pack out what you pack in, and keep distance from wildlife and cultural sites.

  7. 07Third-party partners, events and links

We work with partners and link to sites we don't run. Grenadier Gathering West in Moab, Utah and Grenadier Gathering East in Windrock, Tennessee are organized and sold separately at ineoseventsusa.com; we are not the seller of those events. Storyteller Overland and Field Van are independent companies, and their trips and programs run under their own terms.

We're not responsible for another company's products, prices, cancellations, refunds or conduct. Book through them under their terms, and tell us if something goes wrong so we can pass it on.

  8. 08Your content and our content

Photographs, text, route notes and videos on this site belong to Voyager Outdoors or are used with permission. You may share links and quote short passages with credit; you may not reproduce, sell or republish the site's content, or use it to train an AI model, without our written permission.

If you send us photos or video taken on a Voyager trip, you give us permission to use them, with credit, in our own marketing. You keep ownership, and you confirm you have the right to share them and that anyone pictured is happy to appear.

  9. 09Disclaimers

The site is provided as it is. We don't promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that every fact on it is current. Trail conditions, road closures, permit status, fire restrictions and weather change faster than any website can track. Confirm current conditions with the relevant land manager before you travel, and treat our information as helpful rather than authoritative.

  10. 10Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Voyager Outdoors, Mike Reed and anyone working with us are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for loss arising from your use of the site or from information on it. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

We strongly suggest you carry travel and medical insurance that covers off-road vehicle travel, and that you check your vehicle policy covers commercial or instructional use before a course.

  11. 11Governing law

These terms are governed by Colorado law, and disputes will be handled in the courts of Mesa County, Colorado. Most problems get solved with a phone call, so please talk to us first: 970-753-6008 or info@voyager-outdoors.com.

If one part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
