Your information

Privacy policy

How Voyager Outdoors handles personal information when you send an inquiry, ask about dates, or join the email list. Written to be read, not to be skipped.

Last updated: October 13, 2026

  1. 01The short version

We collect only what we need to answer you and to tell you when trips and training dates are set: your name, email address, and anything you choose to tell us in a message. We don't sell your information, we don't take payment on this site, and we don't run advertising trackers. You can ask us to delete what we hold at any time.

  2. 02Who is responsible for your information

Voyager Outdoors, owned by Mike Reed, is responsible for the information described here. Basecamp: 913 Eves Ct, Fruita, CO 81521. Email: info@voyager-outdoors.com. Phone: 970-753-6008.

This policy covers voyager-outdoors.com. It doesn't cover other companies' sites we link to, including ineoseventsusa.com (Grenadier Gathering events), Storyteller Overland and Field Van. Each of those has its own privacy policy.

  3. 03What we collect

From the inquiry and contact forms:

    • Your name and email address (both required).
    • Phone number, if you choose to give one.
    • What you're interested in — trips, training, a private adventure, or something else — and your message.
    • The page you sent the form from, so we know what you were looking at.
    • Whether you ticked the box to be kept posted about upcoming trips and training.

From the email signup form: your email address, and your first name if you give it.

Automatically, when you browse: standard analytics data — pages viewed, rough location at country and city level, browser and device type, referring site, and a random visitor identifier. See "Analytics" below.

We never ask for your payment card details, and we never collect your date of birth or government ID.

  4. 04Why we use it, and our legal basis

    • To reply to you (contract steps and legitimate interests): answering an inquiry, discussing dates, vehicle suitability or a private trip.
    • To run our records (legitimate interests): keeping a simple list of who asked about what, so the right person follows up and nothing gets lost.
    • To send updates (consent): only if you ticked the box or signed up. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and one click ends it.
    • To improve the site (legitimate interests): seeing which pages and trips people actually read, in aggregate.
    • To meet legal obligations (legal requirement): tax, permitting and record-keeping, and responding to lawful requests.

We don't make automated decisions about you and we don't profile you for pricing.

  5. 05Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 to count page views and see which trips and courses people read. It sets a cookie on your browser to recognise a returning visit. We don't use advertising networks, retargeting pixels, or third-party marketing cookies, and we don't share raw analytics data with advertisers.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and Google publishes a browser add-on to opt out of Analytics. Blocking analytics won't stop you using the site or sending an inquiry.

  6. 06Who we share it with

Only the providers we need to operate, under contract, for these jobs:

    • Our website hosting and database provider, which stores inquiry and signup records.
    • Google Analytics, for the aggregate statistics above.
    • Our email provider, so inquiries reach the right inbox and updates can be sent.
    • Shopify, only if you opted in to marketing: your name and email are added to our customer list so we can email you. Unsubscribing removes you from marketing.

We don't sell or rent your information, we don't share it with data brokers, and we don't share it with partners such as Storyteller Overland, Field Van or event organizers unless you asked us to put you in touch with them. We may disclose information where we're legally required to.

  7. 07Where it is stored and how long we keep it

Inquiry and signup records are stored in the United States. Suppliers are bound to keep it confidential and to use it only for the job we hired them for.

We keep an inquiry until the conversation is closed and for a period after, so we can pick it back up. We keep a marketing signup until you unsubscribe. We review the list regularly and remove stale records that serve no purpose.

  8. 08How we protect it

Access is limited to the people who need it, connections are encrypted, forms are protected against spam and automated abuse, and the database is not open to the public. No system is perfectly secure, so tell us if you believe something has gone wrong and we'll act.

  9. 09Your choices and rights

Written to meet GDPR and California (CCPA/CPRA) standards, whether or not a given law applies to us:

    • Ask what we hold about you, and get a copy.
    • Ask us to correct anything inaccurate.
    • Ask us to delete your information.
    • Withdraw marketing consent at any time — one click in any email.
    • Object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
    • Ask us to restrict or pause processing while a dispute is resolved.

Send requests to info@voyager-outdoors.com. We'll verify it's really you, then answer within 30 days. We don't charge for this. If you're in the EU or UK and think we've mishandled your data, you can complain to your local data protection authority.

  10. 10Children

This site isn't aimed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. A parent or guardian should send the inquiry for a participant under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

  11. 11Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that matters to you, we'll say so on this page with a new "Last updated" date, and for significant changes we'll email people we're holding marketing consent from.
